  • 1903 Winter Ball: a collection of photos from a book about the 1903 Winter Ball in St. Petersburg Russia. Some of the costumes are not in our period, but a few are. The quality of the pictures could be better, but hey, at least we can take a look at them!

Have fun clicking on the various pieces of the Rus' gentleman's ensemble to bring up information. Be sure not to miss anything! A non-Java version is also available. This has lots of archaeological research and it includes PATTERNS (kaftan, rubakha, footwraps, accessories, hat, pants! If you have problems reading the text, change your browser's language encoding to Unicode or Central European.
  • Rus' Soldier: A good picture of a man wearing a mail shirt, spun helm, and carrying a kite-shaped shield.
  • Patterns and Instructions for Medieval Russian Costumes: The name says it all. The site includes a pattern for a shirt or undertunic and a pattern for a Kievan tunic or coat.
